The historic Griffith Park Observatory was built in 1935 as a gift to Los Angeles by Griffith J. Griffith and has become one of the city's most visited and recognizable landmarks. On Sunday, October 29, 2006, the Observatory held a Re-Opening Gala to celebrate its opening after four years of renovation.
